Been Away

Dear internets, new visitors and dedicated followers.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I’ve braving the storms on the far flung island of Rottnest for the past week at a conference held by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. At this time of year, the island is neither tropical, nor calming, but a raging storm of bitter chills and howling winds. Ideal for staying snugged up inside writing and drawing. (which, you know, is perfect if it’s a conference for writers and illustrators.)

There was much discussion of picture book projects, plans were hatched and energy levels were raised. I’ve got a couple of picture books that I’m now working on developing with long time collaborator Briony Stewart (in the picture above).

I’ve been keeping up with my 8 Bit Dreams illustrations, so I’ll be doing a large update of them in the next few days once they’re all scanned. I’m still taking commissions, and there are still a ton of great titles still up for grabs on my etsy store.

I’ve had people ask me if I’m going to publish the collected 8 Bit Dreams as a book. Of course it would be a dream (har har) to have them collected like that, it would make a gorgeous cube shaped book when all done. However, I don’t have any publisher in mind, and have no idea what sort of clearance would be necessary to put it in to print, with all the different licenses involved. It’s a really exciting idea though.

As is an exhibition of the works, but we’ll have to see how we go. There are many exciting places for this project to head.

Oh, you know you can follow me on twitter as well? Right?

Thanks for your enthusiasm and encouragement peoples of the world! Please keep the comments and support coming.
